Innovative Learning Resources in Active Learning to Promote Thinking Skills as a Strategy to Achieve Occupational Safety and Health Competencies

Possessing occupational health and safety competence is key to creating a safe working atmosphere within the campus environment. This study aims to integrate innovative learning resources into a project-based learning model to foster the thinking skills necessary to achieve the target competencies of the Occupational Health and Safety course. The research involves providing digital learning resources integrated with instructional materials and projects, guiding students to understand occupational health and safety principles and to apply them during their studies and work in engineering environments. The learning resource package was designed using modern technology to align with students' digital lifestyles and serves as a medium to facilitate active learning through student-selected projects. The results demonstrate the students' ability to execute projects responsibly and to apply safety-related knowledge and skills within academic activities. Higher-order thinking skills, specifically analytical, evaluative, and creative thinking, all fell into the "good" category. Implementation of this new learning model guided students through the Occupational Health and Safety course. Competence achievement was evidenced by positive learning outcomes, derived from the cumulative results of both subjective and objective evaluations. This learning model enables students to acquire knowledge and skills simultaneously.
