Abstract

I am indeed grateful to the Indian Society for Technical Education for inviting me to deliver the Karnataka Convention Commemorative Lecture for the year 1995. The exponential growth of science and technology in the last fifty years has undoubtedly resulted in the extraordinary information explosion, rapid dissemination of which has become vital to prevent ossification of our society.
