Abstract
Polytechnics are required to play a key role in the training, retraining and continuous development of quality technician and technician engineers needed by present day industry. For playing this role, some structured changes are required in the programmes offered in polytechnic. An alternative to the present set up of Multi-disciplinary programme of single level is to have polytechnics offering multi level single discipline or single industry programmes with large intake of students. In this study, opinion of a selected sample comprising of forty polytechnic administrators, twenty technical education experts and ten professional from industry was taken on 28 item questionnaire about the advantages and disadvantages of this alternative model and the results are presented in this article.
